Neighbours raised the alarm. They said they noticed a smell of smoke and contacted the emergency services. Fire crews arrived promptly and worked to bring the blaze under control, which had already spread through the ground floor of the house.
The fire caused significant damage to several living areas, including the sitting room and dining room, and completely destroyed the attached garage. The garage contained a large amount of firewood, which fuelled the flames. Heat and smoke also damaged part of a neighbouring property, underlining the scale of the incident.
A total of 18 firefighters were deployed, using multiple hoses to extinguish the fire. In the aftermath, local residents came together to help clear debris and begin cleaning the damaged home, offering support to the affected household at the start of the new year.
