A 30-year-old was killed by a falling tree in Normandy

It happened in Trévières, in the Calvados, on Monday (2nd March 2026). Three people from the same family reportedly answered a local ad to come and cut poplar trees on a private property. During the outing, a tree is reported to have fallen on one of them, a thirty-year-old man, who died at the scene.

The tree was cut down by one of the three people present when it fell on the thirty-year-old who had seemingly approached the tree without making himself known. According to the Gendarmerie, who spoke to ICI Normandie journalists, the victim was in his vehicle only moments before. He came out just as the tree fell. It struck him in the head, killing him instantly.
A tragic incident
At around 3:40 pm, resuscitation attempts were made by first responders. Despite the emergency services' best efforts, reports say the young man was already dead by the time they arrived on scene. The securité civile emergency helicopter was deployed and later cancelled when responders at the scene established that the man could not be resuscitated.
