If you're feeling medieval this summer of 2026, here are a few festivals to let out your inner knight

Bayeux

Starting strong, right at the beginning of July: Bayeux's medieval festival, with its colourful market bordering the cathedral! You will find parades, street events and costumed people spread all over the city centre, from 3rd July to 5th July.

Hérouville-Saint-Clair

Closer to Caen this time, be sure to visit Ornavik and its grand annual celebration, where a lot of passionate reenactors gather to share their crafts and tales. From medieval times to the Vikings, there will be lots to learn about the history of Normandy. Located in Hérouville-Saint-Clair, near Beauregard's castle, from 17th to 19th July.

Falaise

Next, we have Falaise's medieval festival, the town that is William the Conqueror's birthplace. Be sure to visit one of the biggest medieval markets, with nocturnal events and spectacles from 8th to 9th August!

Merville-Franceville

And last but not least, to finish the summer off on a fun note right before autumn: Cidre & Dragon, one of the biggest festivals of the department. With its great variety of costumes, be it fantasy or steampunk, its medieval market and its unique location right on the seafront, it is a perfect family outing for the weekend in Merville-Franceville, from 19th to 20th September.
