The award highlights Normandy's enduring appeal and diversity, reaffirming its place among Europe's top destinations.

The title was awarded during a ceremony in London on the 5th November, based on an impressive 4.8 million votes cast by the magazine's readership. This is not the first time Normandy has received such recognition; the region also won the same title in 2022, demonstrating its consistent popularity among its travellers.

Why Normandy?

Readers highlighted several reasons for choosing Normandy as Europe's most attractive region:

Firstly, Normandy's combination of windswept beaches, dramatic cliffs, family-run cider farms, and historic sites where "the past still feels present" left a strong impression on the magazine's voters.

The region's rich cultural heritage, including landmarks such as the Mont Saint-Michel, Monet's (the impressionist painter) garden in Giverny, medieval towns, and diverse coastal landscapes, offers visitors a wide range of experiences.

In addition, Normandy continues to be admired for its opportunities to discover Second World War history, strong local traditions, gastronomy, natural diversity, and an overall sense of authenticity and tranquillity that many travellers seek.

What does this award mean for the region?

The award reinforces Normandy's appeal, beyond France, especially among travellers from across Europe, and strengthens its position as an international holiday destination. It is also seen as recognition of the work of local tourism professionals, cultural institutions, and regional stakeholders to preserve Normandy's landscapes, heritage, and identity.

The award may also lead to increased visibility for the region and boost visitor numbers, potentially renewing interest in its nature, culture, and sustainable tourism offerings. Finally, it would be hard for those who love their region not to feel a sense of pride at this recognition.
