Swimming pool in Normandy closed after damages caused by a single mouse

It closed on Saturday, 7th March, Vire's local swimming pool was put out of service by a single mouse. The small animal got into the building's electrical panel and nibbled cables, causing severe damage to the building's infrastructure. The closure is expected to last at least a week.

The intruder died at the scene, whilst nibbling the cables, the mouse electrocuted itself. It was found by the staff who had come to investigate issues with the emptying mechanism of one of the pools.


Extensive damage to the pool's infrastructure


Despite its electrocution, the mouse was still able to cause considerable damage to the circuitry. In addition to the affected pool, the lighting and ventilation were also affected. The duration of the closure, which has been set to at least a week, will depend on the pace of progress made by the repair team.
